Google announced they are shutting down several products as part of their “summer spring cleaning” efforts.

One of those products is iGoogle, once known to be Google’s faster growing product. In fact, iGoogle at one point accounted for 20% of all visits to Google’s homepage! Now, Google decides to kill it off on November 1, 2013.

Why? Google said since the web and mobile are changing, and “with modern apps that run on platforms like Chrome and Android, the need for iGoogle has eroded over time.” Google is giving iGoogle users 16 months to learn to use something else.

Google is also discontinuing Google Mini at the end of this month. Google Talk Chatback has been discontinued, they recommend users begin to use Meebo, which Google has acquired. Google Video which stopped taking which stopped taking uploads in 2009 will migrate the rest of the Google Videos to YouTube later this summer, if you have videos on Google Video you have until August 20 to migrate, delete or download your content. Google will also soon be retiring Symbian Search App.
