I actually strongly disagree with that misinformed assumption. It may be little time consuming to build your Google rankings for a particular keyword in your industry; nevertheless, there are no quick solutions to build your rankings. Having said that, surely there are better routes to take when building your online presence (also is within the guidelines set by Google).

One advice I can give you is, “think relationships, share your passion in your online communication” and I assure you, Google won’t come knocking on your door when you do, but, it will rank your keywords when you get back-links through your online relationships.
