How can more back-links hurt your google rankings?
There is so much misinformation for most small business owners who want to take charge and implement their own seo campaigns.
Since the search engine optimisation field is unregulated, and since Google keeps changing their algorithms, one of the old but common misinformation about seo back-links is “the more you have it, better Google rankings will be for your website”
I actually strongly disagree with that misinformed assumption. Although rankya seo services (or websites we manage) hasn’t been hit by latest Google penguin update, I know many webmasters who previously bought into that very assumption as to “the more back-links, better for me” mentioned on this article.
Many years ago, in the infancy stages of Google (The Anatomy of a Search Engine), getting more back-links did in fact count as a positive vote for a resource online, as it was part of the Google PageRank determination algorithm. But the usual seo beasts abusing the knowledge they come across, started to take advantage of these determination factors by creating link farms, links wheels and worthless $1 directories was born all over the internet, all for that crucial vote called a “back-link”.
Obviously, for seo experts who follow Google guidelines, these unhelpful methods are never on the menu, but, for some of those mum and dad small online business owners who ran their own seo projects, misinformation such as the one mentioned above, is still being followed. And when Google changes its ranking criteria to stay ahead of seo beasts, it’s those uninformed business owners who place their trust, their livelihoods in those seo services that get burnt first.
You may be like me who gets email offers like this “1000 back-links – fast”. My best advice is “stay away from unethical link building services” and always follow Google webmaster guidelines. It may be little time consuming to build your Google rankings for a particular keyword in your industry; nevertheless, there are no quick solutions to build your rankings. Having said that, surely there are better routes to take when building your online presence (also is within the guidelines set by Google).
One advice I can give you is, “think relationships, share your passion in your online communication” and I assure you, Google won’t come knocking on your door when you do, but, it will rank your keywords when you get back-links through your online relationships. You can start building positive relationships with rankya seo services today, which in turn will explode your Google rankings come tomorrow.
